Welcome to the FAQs page. Below are the answers to some of the questions we hear throughout the season.
1. Is anyone that runs Maple Valley Youth Soccer paid?
Answer – No, no one that runs Maple Valley Youth Soccer is paid. Board members must pay registration fees for their children just like everyone else. Only referees receive any type of compensation during the season.
2. Where does my money go?
Answer – This is a common question. We at Maple Valley Youth Soccer make every attempt to keep costs down while keeping the program competitive and fun for the kids. One reason we have started a program of maintaining the uniforms is to keep cost down for future seasons.
In 2012 we built some new goals so that each age division had new goals and new nets. This project costs around $325 for goal parts and nets, labor was volunteer only.
The program tries to maintain a small amount of reserve cash for emergency purchases, next season advertising, and equipment needs, this amount, however, is shrinking due to declining enrollment.
Below are some figures from the Spring 2013 season to provide a perspective on what it costs to run the youth soccer program. Not included below is the year end wrap up party or souvenirs for the kids.
|SAY Program Fee- Liability Insurance||(10.00)||(10.00)||n/a|
|Jersey/Uniform Replacement Costs||(17.00)||(10.00)||n/a|
|Subtotal Revenue after Per player Expenditures||320||315||635|
|Discounts for multiple registrations / Scholarships||(165)|
|Advertising / Printing||(120)|
|Equipment - Balls||(250)|
|Supplies - Paint||(400)|
|Net Concessions Revenue||?|
We hope that by maintaining ownership of the uniforms that we can lower prices in future seasons. We try to have a balanced budget each season investing back in to the program any excess funds received (minimal, in any, in recent years due to declining player counts).
3. How many players play each year?
Answer - Player enrollment has declined each of the past three spring and two seasons.
Spring 2011 – 183 players Fall 2011 – 94 players
Spring 2012 – 121 players Fall 2012 – 83 players
Spring 2013 – 103 players Fall 2013 – TBD
